Application WoodID due institute of technology, Telematics engaged in development, can be identified quickly 260 types of wood, can be used when there is no Internet.
Application by the Department of Forestry and rangers, the Organization of international cooperation, German, Forest Science Institute of Vietnam, and the academy of technology and Telecommunications (PTIT) developed, launched and tested in Vietnam, Belgium and Ghana, which was exhibited at the exhibition achievements of outstanding industry education – training new here.
In the notification day 18/9, PTIT said this is “the application WHO the first in Vietnam to allow fast identify exactly the type of wood typically imported into Vietnam.” The solution is expected to open new step in the management of state and corporate support, boost converter of management, the source and type of wood, from which the transparency of the supply chain, prevention of trafficking in illegal timber and meet international standards.

Previously, in order to verify the type of wood, customs officers have to send a sample inspection, spending many days and high cost. With WoodID, the system can give results identification with high accuracy in less than a second. Through results on the application, the customs officers at the gate can quickly get overview of the wood-lot production, imports.
In addition, the products meet the needs used when there is no Internet, for rangers when going to the woods, and was designed to not have in-depth knowledge about forestry can still manipulate easily.
According to ASSOC.DR. Nguyen Trong Khanh, Faculty of information technology – PTIT, one of the participants, the research team from an early stage, to do this, WoodID integrated technology artificial intelligence at the border with the data wood standardized international. The group made the stitching as integrated and coaching model AI image recognition wood, optimized processing speed to results returned almost instant design, mobile application, easy to use, suitable both in the work environment the address without Internet.

The app is build based on a database of 260 types of wood often imported into Vietnam, many of which are rare species according to the category CITES. Each sample of wood taken hundreds of photos from many angles, analysis using modern technology and learning algorithm machine to ensure reliability. The analysis results are evaluated can serve the management, domestic and export markets.
“Work is successfully tested in Vietnam, Belgium and Ghana shows wide application and reliability of the system, contributing to assert the position of Vietnam in its efforts to build the forestry industry transparency, sustainability and integration into the global supply chain,” he says.
Next time, the team will continue to work with regulatory authorities and international partners to expand the data base wood, improving the ability to identify application WoodID in fact, the spirit of resolution 57 of breakthrough in the development of science, technology, innovation and transformation of the country.
